Uma Kalkar
Managing Editor
Uma Kalkar is a mixed-methods policy researcher focused on responsible AI, data governance, and digital infrastructure strategies and applications through a socio-technical lens. Her work on digital disparities and civic deserts has been a cornerstone of youth civic engagement strategies for the U.S. non-profit 18by Vote. She has a background in conflict studies, digital and technology policy, and quantitative methods.

Rio Popper
Deputy Managing Editor
Rio graduated from Oxford PPE and has an offer to start at Yale Law School in September. Her interests are in game theory, virtue ethics, and AI conflict prevention. She’s worked with the Effective Institutions Project and on projects about forgiveness as a
tool for (AI) conflict de-escalation. Rio also founded a nationally-ranked student literary magazine and has received national awards for writing and editing as well as for mathematics.

Rob Reason
Editor
Rob has a degree in psychology from the University of Bristol, where he is currently studying for a masters degree in the same subject. He has published for the Royal Society of Open Science, and is currently pursuing research projects focused on misinformation and global development. In addition to his research, Rob is also a founding member of the mental health charity Rethink Wellbeing.

Jemima Jones
Editor in Chief
Jemima's impetus in co-founding Flourish was to increase the opportunities for impact-oriented humanities students, inspired by other ideas targeting STEM students. Jemima led Durham University’s Effective Altruism society, and set up a seminar programme on tools and ideas for doing good. She was also an editor at the Durham History Society’s undergraduate journal.
